FAQs
When should I write my will?
There are a number of life triggers that should mean you write your will. Buying your first home and the birth of a first child are among the most common. But with 70% of adults passing without a valid will in place its safe to say its never too late to write your first will.
How often should I review my will?
Generally we recommend every 5 years, however its always worth reviewing your will before then if there are any significant family events. STEP offer free consultations, so if you simply want some peace of mind to ensure what you have in place is still relevant to your family’s needs it never hurts to book a chat with one of our associates.

My partner and I are unmarried but have lived together for many years. They’ll just get everything if I die, won’t they?
Not without a valid will in place. They will receive jointly owned assets and that’s it. Please see our intestacy flow chart here Straight Talk_Intestacy. It is also worth noting that unmarried couples do not gain the IHT break benefits of married couples.
